NEWPORT PLAYING FIELD

MANAGEMENTNewport Pembs ShieldCOMMITTEE

HISTORY

In 1950 the inhabitants of Newport purchased the playing field area for the benefit of the community. This land, which originally constituted two smaller plots, was then conveyed to the Newport Parish Council who became the custodian trustees of the land.

Since the original purchase of the land the playing field layout has altered considerably. From the construction of Ysgol Bro Ingli and the tennis courts to more recently the development of the M.U.G.A. The jurisdiction of the playing field has since been passed to a management committee who consist of representatives from Newport’s sporting clubs.

Although this committee is subject to change its goal remains the same, to provide Newport and it’s inhabitants with an area for sport and recreation. The committee welcomes any group or club wishing to use the amenities or simply have suggestions on how to further improve the existing facilities.
