Newport Paths Group is made up of enthusiastic volunteers of all ages who work to improve access to the countryside in Newport for people of all abilities, and to improve the environment and people's understanding of the environment.

It is a community group set up in 1999 as one of the activities to celebrate the new millennium. This resulted in the Newport Millennium Trail with the information panels and trail guide.

Path Group at Work

Following on this came the Parrog/Cwm Easy Access Path with information panels and free leaflets and large print and Braille guides.

From the outset, an important commitment was to ensure long term maintenance of the Public Rights of Way which had been cleared and publicised. Working closely with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Rangers, volunteers do footpath maintenance and improvement: clearing vegetation; putting in new stiles and so on; surveying Public Rights of Way; designing and producing leaflets and information panels.

The Group, which is supported by Newport Town Council, is managed by a committee of volunteers and representatives. Enthusiastic participation is at the heart of the Group's work, for which training can be provided as required.

Path GroupMembership of the Group is open to all who support its aims.

We hope that these brief details will encourage you to join the Group as an active member and we look forward to seeing you soon. Your commitment can be as much or as little as is wished.
